Applications to attend the upcoming TEDxOU conference on January 25, 2013 are now being accepted.

A large number of applications have already been received. Last year, 80 applications were received within 24 hours. Since the applications opened Wednesday, 120 applications have already been received, according to event coordinator Adam Croom.

“We encourage and have a strong preference for early appliers,” said Croom.

Three hundred tickets are administered: 150 general tickets at $100, and 150 student tickets at a discounted rate of $27. The first round of accepted applicants will be announced today, according to Croom.

TEDxOU is an exclusive conference featuring speakers fostering authentic dialogue on important community issues.

“Our vision for creating this event was to bring together bright, curious and energetic people from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to foster authentic dialogue about important issues. These conversations will build new connections, spark innovation and ultimately create positive change,” said Croom.

TEDxOU also will also give students the opportunity to speak for the first time. About eighteen students auditioned to speak on Wednesday, but only three or four will be chosen, according to Croom.

All videos will be online for free at following the event.
